The AirPort Utility app is available on the App Store as a free download. This marks the first time that the AirPort Utility application itself, however, has been updated in over a year. Over the summer, Apple released firmware security updates for the discontinued AirPort Express, Extreme, and Time Capsule Base Stations.

Today’s update to the AirPort Utility application includes security improvements and general stability enhancements. While the AirPort hardware itself has long been discontinued, Apple continues to support the ecosystem when necessary. Use the drop-down lists and text fields to select the specific days and time ranges that you wish to allow and use the + button to add additional ranges. Create the rules for when that particular wireless client can access your network.
Overall, it appears the AirPort Utility app for iOS 5 has implemented much of the options available in its Mac counterpart.Apple today has issued a rare update for its AirPort Utility application on iOS. AirPort Utility allows you to restrict specified wireless clients from accessing your network at certain times. You can manage the Internet Connection settings for the device, activate a Guest Network and change the WiFi Mode of an existing network. You can restart a base station from the app and restore it to default settings. Tapping the Edit button will enable you to configure various settings of an AirPort device, including File Sharing and Disks for an AirPort Extreme, DHCP and NAT, WAN Setup and Access Control. You can check out the connection status, IP Address and Hardware Address for each connected client.

You can install the app by clicking on “Manage This Network” on your iOS device’s WiFi settings for an AirPort station. I work a lot with computers at my home (Wi-fi managment, DNS change, etc) but my router is an AirPort Extreme (The tall one) and I have an Android phone(No worries I wont start a debate about wich is better). AirPort Utility 6.3.1 resolves an issue where AirPort base stations may not appear in AirPort Utility.
